Motel Monday: Ladies on Diving Boards!

I spent a majority of the morning digging through In The Heart of Downtown trying to figure out a theme for this week's Motel Monday post. After an hour of banging my head, I determined that I was going to share postcards of pools. For some reason, i decided that was "too easy," so I narrowed it down from there to people around the pool and then slimmed it down to nothing but motel postcards featuring ladies on diving boards. These ladies appear to have no desire to actually go in to the pool, just pose and look pretty for the camera to help drum up some business.

Motel Monday: Capri

This week's Motel Monday takes a trip to the Island of Capri; where Italian in Capri pants roam the countryside as far as the eye can see. Ok. We aren't actually going there. We are going to take a trip around the United States and see some motels with Capri in the title. Some of these motels tried to conjure up the Italian island, some used the color (a color halfway between azure and cyan) as their inspiration. Either way, there are some cool looking motels in this set.

Motel Monday: Colonial Times

These motels mainly center around the architectural meaning. While not flashy, these really scream "down home" and I bet that's what the moteliers were trying to convey.

This week's Motel Monday features motels and motor lodges with Driftwood in the title. All of these motels appear to have been near a body of water, hence the image of chunks of wood floating away. See all the cards after the jump.

Snake River Valley Schoolmasters In Concert - February 18, 1949 - Payette, Idaho

This a leaflet/program for the Snake River Valley Schoolmasters Present Association Band and Choral Groups in Concert in the Payette High School Auditorium in Payette, Idaho on February 18, 1949. I don't much about this specific concert. I just found the program and noticed that it was the 62nd anniversary and here we are.

Keystone Pizza was located in Nampa-Caldwell-Boise area of Idaho. I used to go to this place as a kid and was surprised an excited to find a postcard for this place in Allen's wonderful collection.
